Biography:
Frank
Turco graduated from law school in 1967, articled to the legendary H.
A. D. Oliver and was called to the bar in 1968. Since that time he has
successfully concluded thousands of personal injury claims, most by negotiation
and, when necessary, by trial. Frank has handled a variety of complex
legal matters and significant claims which have included traumatic brain
injuries, orthopedic injuries, chronic pain and connective tissue disorders.
As a negotiator, Frank’s motto is “you cannot negotiate from
a position of weakness” and consequently has worked to build the
cases to maximize his clients’ recovery. Frank has conducted hundreds
of mediations and has focused on obtaining a just and adequate award.
As a litigator, Frank has conducted hundreds of trials in varying court
levels including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, the Federal Court
and Provincial Courts. In that regard he has successfully argued and established
significant legal precedents.
In 2005 he was honoured by an appointment to Queen’s Counsel.

When not in the office, in Court or reading, Frank has made time for the
following avocations:

- Coaching ice hockey and soccer
- Scuba diving
- Mycology
- Boating and fishing
- Geology
His interest in ceramics has led him to serve for several years as a
director to the BC Potters’ Guild and as a director of the North
West Ceramics Foundation.
Frank has a special affinity for new immigrants to Canada. He was born
in Italy and at a young age moved to Canada with his parents and siblings.
He is fluent in both the Italian and Calabrese languages.
