ICBC usually requires medical reports from your doctor before they will pay you any benefits. ICBC does not require your signed medical authorization in order to obtain the medical information they require to administer your benefits. In this respect, any information ICBC is entitled to can be provided by your lawyer.

Of note: Caution should be exercised before you sign an ICBC Medical Authorization Form because it may allow the Corporation to obtain your entire personal medical history, and not just the medical information strictly relating to your injuries from the accident.

It is recommended that you carefully follow your doctor's advice concerning your treatment and rehabilitation. You have an obligation to mitigate your losses from the accident by making all reasonable attempts to recover from your injuries.
